Menopause counselling is where you can have dedicated therapy sessions to help and support you with all things related to your menopausal journey.
Menopause is a natural phase in every woman, trans and non-binary person’s life that brings about significant changes physically, emotionally and psychologically. As your body transitions into menopause, which is said to be for any number of years for any one individual, it is essential to allow yourself to be supported to navigate these changes effectively. Menopause is the medical classification where you’ve not had a menstrual cycle over a 12 month period. The time leading up to this stage can be many years for some individuals, and it involves a unique journey of a multitude of symptoms for each person. By prioritising your mind, body and soul, you can enhance your mental health and well-being during this transformative period with much needed support. There’s no need to feel alone in this process, it’s a sign of great strength to seek professional help and support to work through it all.
By specialising in menopause, I have possessed a profound understanding of the physical and mental repercussions stemming from hormonal shifts, along with a keen awareness of the typical life hurdles encountered during this time of your life. Collaborating with you and your medical professional (if you have chosen to seek medical care), I am committed to diligently identifying and endorsing supportive strategies to help you navigate through this often challenging period. I would want to support you with feeling a better version of you again.
Menopause counselling delves into various aspects, which I will be able to help and support you with, such as the following:
I have a curious and inquisitive mind which led me to complete a medical related science degree. I am a proud science nerd which means I am always reading about how the body works from a biochemical perspective and how that interplays with our psychological way of being, because this really interests me. Achieving a Masters of Science degree has meant I have in-depth confident knowledge on neurobiology. I have completed numerous professional therapy training courses on menopause. I have worked with medical doctors who were specialists on menopause. This means I have the right credentials and relevant experiences to use and refer to, with helping and supporting your mind, body and soul process by enhancing your awareness through helpful simple-to-understand explanations for your menopause mental health concerns.
I have experience working with clients going through the menopause which includes those from the BAME group. You can read more about my work here. I have also provided help and support to clients who are partners, relatives and friends of people who are going through the menopause. I specialise in working with clients who have experienced severe traumas, intergenerational trauma and enmeshment trauma, and these can resurface during the menopausal journey creating body, mind and life changes due to the imbalance of one’s hormonal biochemistry. I am here to help you support yourself, or a loved one, through this transformative process together.
If you are experiencing menopause mental health concerns which are affecting you in the workplace, please get in touch so that I can help you more through career counselling with your menopausal journey in mind.
