When something deeply painful has happened, or keeps happening, your body remembers, even if your mind tries to move on. You may not have the words, but the impact shows up in your nervous system, your relationships, your sleep, your boundaries and how safe you feel inside your own life.
At Care2Counsel, I offer trauma-informed therapy that helps you feel safe, understood and supported, at your own pace.
Trauma isn’t just about one specific event, it’s about what happens inside you as a result of overwhelming or unsafe experiences. These can be obvious, like an accident or assault, or invisible and slow burning, like emotional neglect or generational expectations.
Trauma can leave you feeling:
Inherited pain passed down through families, especially common in South Asian and migrant communities. You may carry beliefs, shame or emotional patterns that began long before you.
When personal boundaries were blurred, and your emotional needs were neglected in favour of others, often in tightly knit or collectivistic families.
You may still be healing from being controlled, harmed or manipulated by someone close. Therapy helps you rebuild your voice, safety and self-trust.
If you’ve experienced sexual trauma, whether recently or in childhood, therapy offers a space that is private, safe and trauma-aware. You will never be rushed or judged.
You may be experiencing flashbacks, emotional shutdown, sleep disruption or emotional dysregulation. Together we can gently work with you and your nervous system to bring relief, regulation and understanding.
Sometimes, trauma doesn’t come from “what happened,” but from what didn’t, the love, safety or emotional attunement that was missing in childhood. This can leave deep-rooted patterns of self-doubt, anxiety and people-pleasing.
Trauma therapy isn’t about “fixing” you. It’s about reclaiming the parts of you that had to shut down to survive.
We’ll work together gently and steadily, using a blend of:
